This is a blog entry from last week, authored by one of Clay’s relatives, regarding his life and the impact he has even today. Please take a moment to check it out.

Week Twelve: David Clayton Phillips

Great news!  Thanks to your generosity in the Skip One For Clay program, we will be able to grant scholarships to two aspiring chefs attending the Culinary Institute of Charleston this fall!  We could not have done this without you, so thanks for making this possible!

- Chris and Jim Phillips

Clay’s family would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming turn-out at both the Duncan and Charleston memorial events. Your kind words and thoughtful prayers have helped us so much over these past days. Please help keep Clay’s spirit alive in your continued thoughts and prayers. Remember, you can “Skip One For Clay” any time and help keep his legacy alive as well. He will, without a doubt, be smiling down and watching over us!

Who’s Clay?

Clay Phillips was, by any measure, an outstanding young man.  He was 21, a rising star in the culinary world and a great friend to many, many people.  If you ever met Clay you couldn’t help but notice his zest for living and his amazing smile.  In the early hours of Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, Clay was killed in an automobile accident.

The concept behind Skip One For Clay is simple. Consider skipping one meal for Clay!  That’s right, skip one meal and send a check, money order or on-line donation for the amount you would have spent on that meal to the Clay Phillips Memorial Fund.  All contributions to the fund will benefit students seeking degrees in the Culinary Arts at The Culinary Institute of Charleston.  Clay found his passion in cooking.  Perhaps we can help some other young people find their passion, follow their dream and keep Clay’s legacy alive.  Please send the link to this site to everyone you know!

The Clay Phillips Memorial Fund has been established as part of the TTC Foundation at Trident Technical College.  To contribute on-line, please visit http://www.tridenttech.edu/give.htm and select “Clay Phillips Memorial Fund” from the drop-down menu once you complete the sign-up page.  You can always mail donations to:
